Well, we are here and have our first race this afternoon, a 2000 meter race, with turns!
Australia is beautiful and many of us have been going out and seeing the sights: Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta, Outback Experience which had a wonderful didgeridoo player, the Blue Mountains, Bondi and Manley Beaches, etc.
We are all very excited about getting out the first race jitters today, and have spent the past bunch of days practicing, getting to know each other (especially those of us who have never paddled with the crew members from the Northwest, and national team first-timers like me and roomie Jan Buh from Philly, Jan B. and Cathy from S. Carolina) and tightening up our team coordination.
I will post again when I get a chance - this blog is a first for me!
Our coaches: Ron, Ellen and Aimee, team manager: Craig, have been great and we plan to make them, and all of you, our families, friends, and supporters, proud!
We're grateful to all the supportive hubbies and sig others too, and to our team masseur, Earl, who has been wonderful at rubbing out our kinks.
So, no worries, mates! We look forward to posting more news soon!
