Clank...

Well, the races are over and we are proud to leave with our medals clanking! Our races were hard fought, every one. We EARNED our positions. In the 2000 meter (non-medal) race, we were 1/10th of a second behind the Premier Women of Taiwan. We held off all competitors until the last 500 meters. Awesome, Grand Dragons!

All in all, it was an exciting week, new friends made and old acquaintances renewed!

Results:
Saturday
200 meters - Bronze
Sunday
500 meters
Silver
Woohoo!!!

Will someone post the times for our races, which I forgot to get from Ron or Craig, or email them to me at dragonlady@6dragonstudios.com and I will post when I get to a computer again.

The after party in the freezing airplane hanger with long lines for incredibly bad food and one drink left much room for improvement, but the trading was good (Thanks Ellen!). The better party was at the Pub near our hotel even though they closed down at midnight. Rocking band and hot crowd ( in more ways than one.)

Many, many thanks to our wonderful coaches and supporters who exhorted, encouraged, fed, carried, watched, photographed, and supported us in so many ways and made it possible for us to concenrate on paddling our butts off!

Love and hugs to all the ladies of the team who helped make this a memorable and fun experience for this newbie to world class competition! YOU ROCK!!! We'll have to do it again!

Please stay in touch - I would love to paddle with you and your home teams, and you are all welcome to contact me if you come to the Big Apple, whether you want to paddle with NY Wall Street Dragons or not.

I'm off to explore before my flight to Cairns tonight and diving the GBR - maybe Bondi Beach or the zoo?

Jamie, I will be looking for a bloodwood didg for you up in Cairns; if only it weighed as much as my paddle; your poor mom is going to need lots of rest after lugging it home...but,

No worries!

Congratulations to all of the crew and coaches! Hope to see pictures soon. Have fun, Lily, at the Reef. Stay away from the Box Jellies!
